This is some of the wildest footage we’ve seen all year.
Michael Luciano lived in Chalet Village off Ski Mountain Road in Gatlinburg, Tenn. The Sevier County wildfire rushed into his neighborhood, apparently without warning. This fire has claimed hundreds of buildings, forced thousands to evacuate and turned hundreds of acres in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park and surrounding lands to cinders. The Tennessee National Guard is deploying alongside the American Red Cross and firefighters from across the state.
Luciano evacuated his cabin at the last minute with a friend and a dog.
And he filmed the whole thing.
They steer their truck down roads engulfed in flames, past homes burning to the ground, even driving through a tree. And then they come to a motorist in the middle of the road (see the 8-minute mark).
Did he do the right thing?
