LONDON — Prince William and the Duchess of Cambridge welcomed a daughter, weighing 8 pounds and 3 ounces, on Saturday morning. This is their second child.
The Duke of Cambridge was present for the birth. The mother and daughter are in good health, according to the Kensington Palace Twitter account.
Their first child, Prince George, was born at the Lindo Wing in 2013.
British bookmakers say the public had wagered the infant would be a girl.
William and Kate had a low-key anniversary celebration Wednesday at Kensington Palace in preparation of a new arrival.
Under new laws governing succession, the new baby will be fourth in line for the British throne regardless of its sex behind Prince Charles, William, and George.
