On Sunday, as news began to spread of the passing of NFL Hall of Famer Frank Gifford, reality star and model Kendall Jenner was among the first to express her sadness over the death of the football legend.

While the Jenner and Gifford connection may be surprising to some, the departed footballer was actually a big player in Jenner’s life.
Gifford, who died at age 84, was Kendall’s Godfather, thanks to his longtime friendship with her father, Caitlyn Jenner.

When Caitlyn Jenner announced her plans to transition, Gifford’s wife Kathie Lee Gifford told viewers on the “TODAY” show that Frank had been the first person to tell her.
“It shocked me as much… Frank had told me,” Gifford said.
Frank and Kathie Lee have been longtime friends of the Jenners and were godparents to both Kylie and Kendall Jenner.
