During her speech at the Time 100 Gala in New York on Tuesday, Caitlyn Jenner revealed that she had no trouble going to the ladies’ room during a recent trip to Trump Tower.
As Trump sat in the audience, Jenner noted that when she had to relieve herself recently, she was able to do so without incident at Trump Tower.
In contrast to many other Republican politicians and political figures, Trump has gone on record saying that he believes transgender people should use the bathroom in which they feel most comfortable.
“This toast actually started in a bathroom. Actually, bathroom issues right now in my life seem to be in the forefront. Actually, on that issue I just want to say also – one little trans woman walking down the street had to go. I looked up and what did I see but the Trump Tower?” Jenner explained.
“Last week, Donald Trump said I could use any bathroom I wanted in the Trump Tower. So of course I veered right in there, took care of myself. I obeyed all the rules, I promise you. I didn’t throw any feminine products down the toilet. And it actually worked out quite well. It was very good.”
Trump had recently appeared on NBC to explain his stance on transgender bathroom laws.
“There have been very few complaints the way it is,” Trump said.
“People go, they use the bathroom that they feel is appropriate. There has been so little trouble, and the problem with what happened in North Carolina is the strife and the economic punishment that they’re taking. So I would say that’s probably the best way.”
