Rosie O’Donnell has been under fire recently for retweeting a YouTube video that suggests 10-year-old Barron Trump might have autism, and she has now formally apologized for it.

“I apologize to @MELANIATRUMP – i was insensitive in my RT,” Rosie, whose Twitter is now private, tweeted on Thursday. “I am sorry for the pain i caused – it was not my intent – i am truly sorry.”

Melania Trump came to her son’s defense shortly after the video went viral by hiring lawyer Charles Harder, who wrote a letter to the video’s creator demanding that he remove it from the site and apologize. Harder also called out O’Donnell for sharing the video, calling her a bully.

The YouTuber who put the video up has since taken it down and has issued his own apology to the future first family.
