Brooke Mueller was hospitalized Wednesday after she and her sons were reported missing in Salt Lake City.
The drama unfolded late Tuesday when Mueller, 39, walked into a bar barefoot with her 7-year-old twins, Bob and Max, and their nanny. She reportedly got into an altercation with the nanny and police were called. Mueller and the kids then fled the scene.
In the early hours of Wednesday morning, Mueller was spotted at a car wash and approached by witnesses who claimed she was “wildly swinging at her children.” The witnesses called police but again, Mueller ran off before they arrived to the scene.
Police later caught up with the ex-wife of Charlie Sheen and did a welfare check.
“On the morning of November 16, dispatchers with the Utah Department of Public Safety received a welfare check call from a woman claiming to be the mother of Brooke Mueller. Troopers with the Utah Highway Patrol responded to the welfare check call and located Mueller, her two children and a nanny on Interstate 15 near Nephi, Utah,” the Utah Department of Public Safety said in a statement sent to PEOPLE.
“The children are safe and will be released to family. Mueller was taken to an area hospital for evaluation. The State Bureau of Investigation is currently investigating the incident. We do not have any more information to release at this time,” the statement continued.
Mueller reportedly relocated to Salt Lake City to enter a rehabilitation program. She is still living in the area as she undergoes outpatient treatment.
