“Aren’t you supposed to be running the country?” Clooney responded, according to The Guardian. “I didn’t vote for him, I don’t support him, I don’t think he’s the right choice.

He was speaking at a reception for a new Netflix documentary, “The White Helmets,” which features the day-to-day lives of rescue volunteers in Syria. Clooney reportedly recently obtained rights to create a fictional film based on the documentary.

“At this moment in our lives, we have to hope that he doesn’t destroy everything. The reality is you have to hope he will do a decent job because if the United States fails, really terrible things happen, so you have to hope that he can,” he continued. “I don’t see any signs of it.”

He also suggested that Americans had a good running streak with previous presidents, including Lincoln, Roosevelt, Kennedy and Jefferson, but were “a little unlucky with Bush.”

“I think we’re going to be a little unlucky now,” he added.
