Prince Harry confirmed his relationship with “Suits” actress Meghan Markle earlier this week. On Thursday, he made his first public appearance since sharing the news.

The prince appeared at the Field of Remembrance memorial at Westminster Abbey to honor those who lost their lives in battle.

He was joined by his grandfather, Prince Philip, for the military memorial.

Kensignton Palace shared some photos from the ceremony on its official Instagram page.

On Tuesday, Prince Harry released a statement confirming his relationship with Markle and asked the public to respect her privacy.

“His girlfriend, Meghan Markle, has been subject to a wave of abuse and harassment. Some of this has been very public – the smear on the front page of a national newspaper; the racial undertones of comment pieces; and the outright sexism and racism of social media trolls and web article comments,” the Royal Family wrote in a statement. “Prince Harry is worried about Ms. Markle’s safety and is deeply disappointed that he has not been able to protect her.”
