Presenting Sir Rod Stewart!

The musician was knighted Tuesday by Prince William at Buckingham Palace. According to PEOPLE, Queen Elizabeth announced Stewart’s knighthood in June during her official 90th birthday celebration.


Stewart is recognized for his music career and contributions to charity. He reportedly is a supporter of Prince Charles’s Prince’s Trust, a foundation that benefits disadvantaged youths.

Prince William first tapped the sward on Stewart’s left shoulder, then his right.

Stewart was accompanied to the palace by his wife, Penny Lancaster, and their sons, Aiden and Alastair.

Following the ceremony, the Royal Family tweeted a message to the musician.

“Congratulations Sir @RodStewart, honoured by The Duke of Cambridge at Buckingham Palace today for services to music and charity.”
