The Queen made a powerful statement to her people after the attack on Westminster

Her Majesty The Queen of England has made a statement following Wednesday’s attack on Westminster.

On Thursday, the monarch shared a statement to Metropolitan Police’s Acting Commissioner Craig Mackey and expressed her “thoughts, prayers and deepest sympathy” to those involved.

She and husband, Prince Philip also thanked the Metropolitan Police Service for their work to protect the pubic.

“I know I speak for everyone in expressing my enduring thanks and admiration for the members of the Metropolitan Police Service and all who work so selflessly to help and protect others,” she wrote in an official statement from the Palace.

The Queen was due to open new headquarters for Scotland Yard on Thursday but, has since canceled the appearance.

“Following the shocking events in Westminster, Prince Philip and I are sorry that we will not be able to open the New Scotland Yard building as planned today, for very understandable reasons.  I look forward to visiting at a later date,” she wrote.
