Tomi Lahren is young, smart, and very conservative. She’s made herself into something of a social media star with more than 373,000 Twitter followers and many more on Facebook who love her right-wing rants. On Wednesday night she got a big break with an appearance on the left-leaning “The Daily Show with Trevor Noah.”
The pre-show hype on Twitter pumped up an oncoming heavyweight fight — or head-on car crash — leaving fans of both participants dripping with anticipation about where the discussion will lead and the fireworks bound to explode. As she took her seat, she said, “I’m in the lion’s den, Trevor.”
Neither party disappointed as they tackled the hot issues of the day such as election protests, police brutality, Black Lives Matter, national-anthem protesting San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick and much, much more. Several times Noah raised his voice, which only got the somewhat squirmy Lahren locked in for battle.
Noah took particular issue with the rant-driven Lahren on a previous statement she made that the Black Lives Matter movement, an organization born out of a series of police killings of black men across the country, as the “new KKK.” She acknowledged that her take is controversial, but that some things need to be said. She wants Kaepernick to just shut up, while Noah argued what the proper way is for a black man to protest since all the QB is doing is kneeling.
Their often heated conversation also hit topics in which Lahren argued Obamacare and how it was destined for failure, President-elect Donald Trump and how he’s level-headed and how immigrants should be “grateful” to live in this country.
Noah at one point questions her about being racist:
“For somebody who is not racist, you have to spend a lot of time saying, ‘I’m not racist. What is your biggest issue with Black Lives Matter? Black Lives Matter has never said go out and shoot people.”
Lahren retorted: “Did you know a black man is 18.5 times more likely to shoot a police officer than a police officer is to shoot a black man? Those are statistics that no one wants to talk about.”
