Clint Black has been in the public eye since he hit the country scene in 1989 with his debut album, “Killin’ Time.” So, you’d think we’d know everything about his life by now. It turns out there’s one big revelation he’s been keeping secret until now.

In a new interview with Dan Rather on the AXS show “The Big Interview,” Clint opens up about the extremely scary family situation that forced him and his family to pack up and move immediately. His mother started getting death threats, which is a scary thing for anyone to go through.

Clint says, “I’ve never talked about this before. We had death threats upon my mom when I was a kid, and that forced us out of an entire part of town we were living in in Houston. It all stemmed from one of my brothers fighting with another neighborhood kid and his older brother.”
This traumatic event meant Clint had to say goodbye to the friends he’d known at school and church.

“I came home from school one day, and the house was nearly packed,” Clint says. “We were moving, and we’d gotten into an apartment quickly out of the house we were living in. From that point on, [we] just sort of ceased to be in that community environment we were in where we had a church. Things sort of changed for a while after that.”
