“The wedding is going to be very representative of the both of us,” he tells PEOPLE of the upcoming celebration, adding that the ceremony will be located in Nashville. “It’ll be awesome to have all of our friends and family together in Nashville — a lot of them have never been here. We built our love story in Nashville, and it’ll be cool to get everybody there to see where it all began for us.”

He also adds, “It’ll be nice to make it official. Everybody’s story is different, everybody’s timeline is different but by the time we got engaged, we were so familiar with each other that there wasn’t anything foreign or scary.”

The partners, who’ve been together for three and a half years, have decided to exchange nuptials come summertime. Although they previously intended to have a small wedding, Dan’s soon-to-be wife says that they have “so many people that we love and care about. The numbers add up really quickly.”

Hey, the more the merrier, right?

With a wedding date on the horizon, the happy couple recently got their engagement photos done. They also shared pictures from the shoot on their respective Instagram pages. Dan posted a snap of the loving pair with two of their dogs, Chief and Joy. He simply captioned, “Forever.”

Turns out that the four-legged friends, including their newest pet pup Ghost, will be on the guest list when the big day arrives. Dan jokes, “They are the most important bridesmaid and groomsman.”

As for bride-to-be Abby, she shared an adorable image featuring her and her man gazing into each other’s eyes.
