It’s safe to say that NBC’s “The Voice” has become Blake Shelton’s territory. Aside from Adam Levine, he is the only other coach that’s been the show since day one.
Not to mention that the set was also where the country crooner found love with former costar Gwen Stefani — after they both separated from their respective exes.
Strangely enough though, it looks like Gwen’s ex-husband, Gavin Rossdale, is now following in the footsteps of the blonde singer and her Oklahoma boyfriend cementing his place on the reality singing competition series. How awkward, right?
Well, not so much. Gavin will actually be turning in a red chair on the U.K. version of “The Voice,” NOT the American version. So, we can all breathe a sigh of relief knowing that no uncomfortable exchanges will be had between the trio of celebrities.
Instead, Gavin will join a lineup of stars that includes Jennifer Hudson, Tom Jones and Will.I.AM, according to “Entertainment Tonight.” While Gwen and Blake’s romance developed on the show, don’t expect Gavin to be looking for love. Instead, he’ll be looking for talent.
“I’m so thrilled to be joining ‘The Voice UK’,” said Gavin in a statement. “I’ve always been extremely proud to fly the flag for British rock music, and I can’t wait to join this incredible panel and help discover some new talent.”
While Gavin will be across the pond gathering singers for his team, he is no stranger to the American version of the show. In fact, back in 2014, he helped advise Team Gwen when the exes were still together. Gwen and Gavin’s split came in August 2015 — a month before Blake and his ex-wife, singer Miranda Lambert, announced their divorce.
In November, Shefani will reach the 1-year milestone of their blossoming relationship.
