Carrie Underwood, Alan Jackson and more top this week’s Rare Country’s 5

Rare Country

It’s a little quiet on the country music front as artists are gearing up to hit the road and get back into the studio to record new projects. But, they’re still active in other parts of their lives and their giving us peeks into what they’re up to. This week on Rare Country’s 5, Erin shines a spotlight on five of the biggest stories of this past week.

Coming in at No. 5 is love. We just love love and we love seeing two people in love. NASCAR champion Dale Earnhardt Jr. and his new bride, Amy Reimann, are giving us plenty to look at as the newlyweds share photos of their tropical honeymoon on social media. They left for the unknown destination right after their New Year’s Eve wedding, and we’re unsure of when they return, but they look like they are happier than ever.

In our No. 4 spot, this talented Texan is blowing minds, melting faces, buckling knees and everything else that can happen when you hear a voice so good you can’t stand it. We discovered Kris Jones when his daughter recorded him while he sang Chris Stapleton’s “Tennessee Whiskey” in the family car. The response was overwhelming, so the sweet father and husband did a follow-up with Lynyrd Skynyrd’s “Simple Man,” which he dedicated to his wife. Sigh!

Heating things up at No. 3 is newly engaged Kelsea Ballerini. After her beau, Morgan Evans, popped the question in the U.S. at Christmastime, the couple traveled to his native land of Australia to celebrate the New Year there. Of course, it’s much warmer Down Under, so the need for snow boots and parkas is unnecessary. We knew Kelsea was gorgeous, but we had no idea how hot her body was until she got down to the bare necessities in a sassy peachy swimsuit that she shared on her Instagram. Hotness times infinity!

The No. 2 story is a heartbreaker. Country icon Alan Jackson said goodbye to his sweet mother, Ruth “Mama Ruth” Musik Jackson, on Jan. 7. She was the precious matriarch of the family and the inspiration for many of Alan’s songs, including “Home” and “Chasin’ That Neon Rainbow,” but she’s also the reason we all get to enjoy that inspiring album “Precious Memories.” Alan recorded it for Mama Ruth as a Mother’s Day gift.

She’s talented, she’s gorgeous and she’s our No. 1 story. Carrie Underwood was a vision in pink ruffles and swirls when she took part in this year’s Golden Globe Awards on Jan. 8. While E’s “Fashion Police” took issue with Carrie’s fashion choice, the country star didn’t have a care to give. Do you blame her? She presented two different awards with rock star and philanthropist Sting and went to some pretty cool parties.

That’s it for this week’s installment of Rare Country’s 5. Country stars are hitting the road and new music is coming. There’s also an inauguration soon. So, we’ll have more exciting news from the world of country music in next week’s Rare Country’s 5.
