There were moments during Charlie Daniels’ performance of “The Devil Went Down to Georgia” during his 80th Birthday Volunteer Jam on Nov. 30 in Nashville where you could just tell that Luke Bryan was in his glory.
Looking at the country legend with stars in his eyes, the Rare Country “Male Artist of the Year” nominee seemed to take in the once-in-a-lifetime moment like a little kid on Christmas. Watching in awe as the Rare Country Humanitarian of the Year award winner tore into his most iconic song, Luke seemed to feel the weight of the moment with each and every note.
But make no mistake, Luke certainly held his own.
Trading verses on the iconic song, the legend and the legend-in-the-making seemed to match wits on the driving beat of the song. And certainly, it was quick to become one of the most electric performances of the night, which also included sets from Kid Rock, Travis Tritt, Chris Stapleton and 3 Doors Down.
Heck, Luke seemed so amped up from his performance that he ended it with throwing his leather jacket into the adoring Bridgestone Arena audience.
The performance was so electric, in fact, that it just might have caused Luke to forget a not-so-great moment earlier in the night, when the Georgia boy was left to deal with an unruly fan during his set.
