In fact, that wound has re-opened with the release of a poignant video from CMT that memorializes the beloved character, wife to Deacon and mother to Maddie and Daphne. And if you’re as much of a fan of the hit CMT television series, then let us slide you a box of tissue before you watch this tender tribute.

Set to “A Life That’s Good,” performed by real life sister duo Lennon and Maisy, and written by Ashley Monroe and Sarah Siskind, the sweet song that the girls and Deacon sang to Rayna as she quietly slipped away is the music bed to some of the most memorable scenes of the character’s run. It’s a great reminder of Rayna’s passion for her family and for music, and refreshes our memories on her achievements, not just as a singer-songwriter, but also as a CEO of her own record label.

And who couldn’t stand one more glimpse of Rayna walking down the aisle to marry her one true love in that ethereal wedding dress?

Whether collaborating with Deacon, Maddie and Daphne, or even Juliette Barnes, it also shows us what an incredible and integral part Rayna played on the “Nashville” team. And just like any team that loses one of their key players, we have to ask, “How will they go on?”

We’ll find out on Thursday when “Nashville” airs on CMT.
