The country music community celebrated the April 5 announcement that revealed the names of the next class of Country Music Hall of Fame inductees. Alan Jackson, songwriter Don Schlitz and the late Jerry Reed are all deserving candidates that were influential and inspirational to generations of young country artists.

One of those young artists is Scotty McCreery.

In a new post on his Facebook page, the handsome young man congratulated all of the inductees, but then paid tribute to Alan, specifically, in a YouTube performance from 2015. While Scotty is a bit more animated than Alan, his version of “Chattahoochee” rivals the elder country star and definitely has us tapping our toes.
This isn’t Scotty’s first time to cover one of the icon’s hits. During his winning run on “American Idol,” the North Carolina boy gave a chilling performance of Alan’s memorable “Where Were You (When the World Stopped Turning).”

Alan represents the modern era of country music in the new class of Hall of Fame inductees and in 2014, he was given his own exhibit in the Country Music Hall of Fame. Among the treasures on display in the exhibit is the actual radio that his father, Gene, won at his job at Pepsi-Cola, which inspired the song “Chasin’ That Neon Rainbow.”
Our heartfelt congratulations go out to Alan, Don and the family of Jerry Reed. The trio of gifted artists will be officially inducted into the Hall of Fame at a formal ceremony later this year.
