If you were one of the lucky folks who attended this year’s Music Fest Jan. 5-10 in Steamboat Springs, Colorado, then we hope you got your ears jam packed full of the best and brightest singer-songwriters to come out of the Texas and Red Dirt regions. Fan favorites who appeared at the festival were Lee Ann Womack, Suzy Boggus, Jack Ingram, Wade Bowen, Casey Donahew, Blue Water Highway, Cody Canada and the Departed, Cory Morrow, and the list of incredible entertainers is almost endless!

And in addition to the never-ending lineup of entertainment, guests on the mountain got to participate in all kinds of wintry activities like skiing, snowmobiling and, our favorite, hot toddies at the lodge.

Good thing, because it looks like Steamboat Springs was treated to a fresh layer of snow nearly every day of the festival. Texas superstar Roger Creager shared multiple photos of the falling snow as he hit the slopes during his time off. And Zane Williams lost his mind when he realized how much he missed the massive amounts of precipitation.
But you know what they say about too much of a good thing. And too much is exactly what they got as an avalanche swept across the Colorado highway, making it impassable for many of the artists trying to make their way either back to Texas or to other shows on their tours.
Sunny Sweeney was one of the stars trying to make her way home. The beautiful blonde had a strong emoji sentiment for the adverse weather and she shared it on Instagram with a map of her blocked route.
Singer-songwriter and father extraordinaire Bart Crow also served up some major emoji eye rolls on Twitter when he was caught up in the delay back down the mountain to catch a flight home to Austin.
Looks as tho i may be spending the night in #SilverthorneCO & miss my @SouthwestAir pump…Avalanche got me & #i70 like 🙄

Fortunately, hot Texas star Cody Johnson was able to make the most of the predicament. He was on his tour bus when the avalanche occurred, so he and “his boys” turned the crisis into an opportunity to brush up on their Mario Kart skills.

Dates have not yet been announced for the 2018 Music Fest, but if you’re planning on attending, you may want to build in a few extra days and bring extra clothes — just in case.
