Josh Gallagher took the stage up a notch on the Monday, Nov. 21 episode of NBC’s “The Voice.”
The Team Adam country contestant performed Brett Eldredge’s energetic hit, “Drunk On Your Love” and dedicated the song to his wife Lizzie, a teacher.
It’s clear though that Josh wasn’t only crooning to his beloved bride when he got onstage. Instead, the singer — who’s played in several Nashville honky-tonks before competing on the reality singing competition show — had the whole audience captivated by the first note.
As you can see in this video, Josh — clad in his recognizable ball cap and black vest — gestures the audience to clap along, as he launches into the toe-tapping tune. He makes his way through the crowd and stops to high-five and shake hands with his newest fans before hitting his impressive long-lasting note.
Prior to singing “Drunk On Your Love,” Josh tackled hits like Zac Brown Band’s “Colder Weather,” Brooks & Dunn’s “My Maria” and Jason Aldean’s “Why,” but this performance really highlighted his undeniable stage presence.
“I think what’s so great about you right now is just the way you’re interacting with the audience,” raved coach Miley Cyrus. “I think that’s what the fans love about country music, because they feel like they get closer to you I think than any other genre. It felt like we were all already at one of your concerts or at your tour rather than you feeling like a contestant.”
Adam also praised Josh saying, “You’re so refreshing to me, because you just get up there, and have a good time. You sing your song. You connect with people. I think, to be honest with you, as far as connecting with an audience there is nobody better in this competition than you right now.”
Adam also shared that he believed Josh’s connection with the audience is his “secret to success.” Talk about a major compliment!
Be sure to keep up with “The Voice” Monday and Tuesday nights on NBC.
