These two country superstars brought a George Jones and Tammy Wynette classic back to life

There’s not a whole lot we love more than a great and unexpected duet on the stage of the legendary Grand Ole Opry. The combination of the reverence and history of that sacred stage and the blending of two beautiful country voices.. .just thinking about it causes goose bumps. And while there have been a gracious plenty of those magical collaborations, the pairing of two true traditionalists — Alan Jackson and Lee Ann Womack — is almost a religious experience.

In 2015, Alan and Lee Ann stepped onto the Opry stage to perform a true, genuine country classic that was originally recorded by late legendary country duo George Jones and Tammy Wynette. The song, “Golden Ring,” is one of the most popular duets in country music history, and Alan and Lee Ann delivered it beautifully to an eager Opry audience. However, this isn’t the first time they’ve done the 1976 No. 1 hit. Back in 2010, the towering tall Georgia boy brought the petite, but powerful Texas girl onstage at the Opry to perform the song and George Jones himself was in the audience to hear it.

But it isn’t just “Golden Ring” that Alan and Lee Ann have enjoyed singing together. On Alan’s 2010 album, “Freight Train,” the pair performed on a song called “Till the End.” Check it out, because it is absolutely gorgeous!

Hopefully, when Lee Ann hits the road with Alan Jackson next year for a few dates, including Pensacola, Florida and Atlanta, the two will join voices again… maybe for something new?

At least we can hope.
