We love it when superstars show us how much their lives are just like ours. Taking out the trash, doing the dishes, changing diapers and celebrating birthdays with family are just a few of the things that remind us that they’re just normal people.

Speaking of birthdays, Vince Gill went over the top in proving what a regular guy he is when he fessed up to forgetting to buy a birthday present for his wife, Amy Grant, back in November. Come on now, what guy hasn’t done that? Fortunately, being Vince, the perfect gift was only a pen and a few guitar strings away.

During Nashville’s annual Country Radio Seminar, Vince shared that story and explained that he thought he might be able to keep himself out of the doghouse by writing a song specifically for her. He also spoke about how differently he and Amy were raised with her coming from a very religious background while his child wasn’t quite as focused on going to church.

As Vince weaves the story of their relationship into the lyrics, especially regarding their spiritual connection and the amount of grace he feels when he sees Amy pray, you can hear their story unfold, and it is a religious experience.

While Amy may not be able to wear it on her finger or around her neck, we’d bet this musical tribute was more precious than any gem Vince could have given her.
