Opening the show with “Love’s the Only House,” Martina worked in full versions of her early hits, including “My Baby Love Me,” “Wild Angels” and “Valentine,” as well as her more current singles, “Anyway” and “I’m Gonna Love You Through It.” Martina slowed things down and sat at the piano for a stripped-down take on the aching ballad “It Ain’t Pretty,” a standout track from her latest album, “Reckless.”

A big highlight of the night was her impromptu cover of Merle Haggard’s “Today I Started Loving You Again.” It was appropriate since this show took place at the Ryman, the home of the Grand Ole Opry until 1974. Martina has been an Opry member since 1995.

Lauren Alaina opened the show for Martina, and the two teamed up for a duet on the girl-power anthem, “This One’s for the Girls,” during Martina’s set.

During the show, Martina said she’s a big fan of Lauren and her empowering brand of country music.

No Martina McBride show is complete without “A Broken Wing” and “Independence Day,” and she waited until the end of the night to deliver that one-two punch before bidding the audience good night. Their big applause coaxed her out for a singalong on the Beatles’ “All You Need Is Love” as the final song of the night.
