The Tennessee trio, made up of siblings Kimberly, Reid and Neil Perry, has swapped out their sweet and wholesome image for a new one that’s barely recognizable.

Despite the group’s new, edgy appearance, they insist it’s who they’ve always been. They also add that the timing for the change in aesthetic was perfect, as it goes along with the theme of their forthcoming third album, “My Bad Imagination.”

“There’s a lot that comes along with a bad imagination, so we sort of set this bar of what does that look like, what does that feel like?” Kimberly told James Corden during a March 22 appearance on “The Late Late Show.” “Probably what you see before you now is sort of what we’ve always felt on the inside, finally making it’s way to the outside.”

Though Kimberly says the band’s rocking new makeover is “mostly new bangs,” it’s clear they’ve outdone themselves. Kimberly now dons a darker shade of red lipstick and jet-black hair, while her brothers’ sport red-and-black apparel – a style that James’ has labeled “bizarre-o Willy Wonka.”

Aside from talking about their epic style shift, The Band Perry also performed “Stay in the Dark,” a pop-infused track from their upcoming project. Thus far, no release date has been announced for “My Bad Imagination.”
