Not every fan realizes this, but the artists you hear singing on the radio aren’t always singing their own songs. Many artists in fact rely on the bevy of songwriters in Nashville to create their hit singles.

Two of those songwriters have been Neil Thrasher and Wendell Mobley.
Country music superstar Kenny Chesney recorded their song “There Goes My Life” and included it on his 2003 album “Where The Sun Goes Down.” The song became the album’s first single and rocketed to No. 1, a position it held for seven consecutive weeks.
Eight years later, Kenny joined Wendell at the CMA Songwriter Series show in Boston to sing the hit together, trading verses and sharing his memories of how that song made its way to him.
“My producer Buddy Cannon and I were in his truck,” remembers Kenny. “He played me this song and the first words out of my mouth were ‘…are you sure we can record this song?’ I knew it was one of those songs that you don’t come across every day. I remember hearing this song, and I couldn’t believe that I was the guy that got to go out and sing this song every night for the rest of my life.”
