Norm MacDonald and the rest of the crew of the David Spade/Adam Sandler generation of “Saturday Night Live” have been working together on their movies for the last two decades under the film company Happy Madison.

A crew of Happy Madison film regulars, Adam Sandler, Nick Swardson, David Spade, Rob Schneider and Norm MacDonald appeared on “Conan” and spoke of their time together with host Conan O’Brien on “SNL,” where O’Brien served as head writer.

Lorne Michaels, who is the showrunner for “SNL,” is known to promote people from within the ranks, and this is how O’Brien got the job replacing David Letterman on “Late Night,” which Sandler recalled as a great moment.

MacDonald brought up the specific night in which the “SNL” alumni watched O’Brien take over the series and how that was the night that the late Chris Farley revealed a secret to him.

MacDonald told a story about how he met Farley and how Farley took him aside and led him into a room, locked the door, and then said to MacDonald, “This is a secret that doesn’t go past these walls. Pat is a woman!” referencing the character Pat, whose main joke was the character’s androgyny.

That’s one “SNL” secret revealed.
