In a 1997 episode of “Saturday Night Live,” then New York Mayor Rudolph Giuliani shocked SNL viewers by appearing in drag in a Thanksgiving sketch to remember.

Giuliani played the mother of Rita Delvecchio, a stereotypical Italian mother who is losing her mind on Thanksgiving.

“What’s the update on Frank Sinatra’s health,” Delvecchio wonders to her relative, while gabbing on the phone.

Throughout the sketch, Giuliani could barely keep his laughs to himself as he played a complaining Italian mother who is tasked with stuffing pasta shells.

When Colin Quinn shows up as the local neighborhood cop, he bemoans how his wife forgot to thaw their turkey, and it will be days until they get to eat it.

“She’s Irish,” Rita jokes to her mom.
