Going gray? You could spend a lot of money getting your hair colored at a salon, or you could try this.

According to HowStuffWorks, gray hair is formed not by stress, but by genes. If your parents went gray young, there’s a good chance you will as well.

But is there a way to slow down the graying?

Some people believe that a combination of coconut oil and lemon juice can reverse the formation of gray hairs. That’s because coconut oil is packed with antioxidants, which strengthen hair and reduce protein loss, while lemon juice’s vitamins and phosphorus nourish hair and (supposedly) treat the cause of grays.

If you’re feeling daring, combine:

  • 3 teaspoons lemon juice
  • ¼ cup organic coconut oil

Apply the mixture to your scalp and let it sit for at least an hour, then wash your hair.

Do you think it’s enough to override your genetic makeup?
