Once you know how to make fondant, you’ll want to use it on everything. Trust us.

This simple fondant recipe uses marshmallows instead of gelatin, which means it’s super easy to whip up at home. (And once you’ve mastered this recipe, you can make our all-time favorite dessert — cake with tie-dye frosting!)

You will need:

  • 16 ounces mini marshmallows
  • 2-5 tablespoons water, divided
  • 7½ cups powdered sugar, divided

You’ll also need shortening or vegetable oil to prepare the surface where you’ll knead the ingredients. For extra fun, feel free to dye your fondant with food coloring!
