A new gizmo is hoping to change the way we cook, one stick of butter at a time.

The so-called “biÄ“m” (pronounced “beam”) melts butter in seconds and then sprays it onto a cooking surface. According to creator Doug Foreman, biÄ“m doesn’t melt the entire stick; it only uses the butter it needs, whether you’re using it to coat a pan or drown your popcorn in dairy goodness. It also uses “just heat and air,” not chemicals, to spray the butter.
Foreman’s invention quickly surpassed its $42,000 goal on Kickstarter. The first biÄ“ms will be shipped to backers in September.
