It’s comfort food with a kick!

This dish from The Chunky Chef takes classic spaghetti, adds homemade chicken meatballs and finishes it all off with some serious Chinese-style spice.

You will need:

Spaghetti

  • 1 pound spaghetti (linguine works too)
  • 1 teaspoon vegetable oil
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • ½ cup dry roasted peanuts, roughly chopped
  • 2 green onions, sliced
  • ⅔ cup soy sauce

  • ½ cup chicken broth or stock
  • ½ cup dry sherry
  • 2 tablespoons red chili paste with garlic
  • ¼ cup brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons rice vinegar
  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil

Chicken meatballs

  • 1 pound ground chicken
  • ⅓ cup yellow onion, grated or finely diced
  • 1 egg
  • ¼ cup all-purpose flour
  • ⅓ cup oats
  • 1 tablespoon sriracha
  • ½ teaspoon ground ginger
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • ¼ teaspoon ground pepper
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced

Sauce

  • 4 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons sriracha
  • 2 tablespoons red chili paste with garlic
  • 2 tablespoons honey
