Slow cookers are the best — they eliminate some of the worst parts of making dinner, and cleanup couldn’t be easier.
We’re all about slow cooker meals. Here’s another one that’s so good, it’ll make you delete the Chinese restaurant’s number from your phone.
Homemade Mongolian beef doesn’t have all the MSG that usually laces Chinese takeout. It’s also easy to make — simply load up the crock pot, and cook either on high for two to three hours, or low for four to five hours.
You will need:
- 2½ pounds flank steak, cut into strips
- ¼ cup cornstarch
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- ¾ cup soy sauce
- ¾ cup brown sugar, packed
- ¾ cup water
- 1 tablespoon garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon red chili flakes
- 1 tablespoon ginger, grated
- 1 cup shredded carrots
Serve your beef dish with rice and broccoli for a healthy weeknight dinner.
