Meringue roses are gorgeous and impressive gluten-free treats.
YouTuber One Kitchen — A Thousand Ideas shows just how easy it is to make these stunning cookies. The trick for getting the color just so is to line a piping bag with food coloring paste (which can be purchased online), using a basic wooden skewer.
You will need:
- 6 pasteurized egg whites
- 1½ cups sugar
- 3 teaspoons vanilla sugar
- Red food coloring paste
- Pink food coloring paste
You will also need two piping bags with rose tips.
Tip: Vanilla sugar is a common ingredient in European desserts. You can either make it yourself or simply substitute the vanilla sugar in this recipe for the seeds from one or two vanilla pods.
Jazz up this recipe by adding a flavor extract to the egg white and sugar mix; strawberry, raspberry and bubblegum all work well!
