More than three weeks ago, California woman Sherri Papini went jogging in a park near her small town of Mountain Gate, California one day when she mysteriously disappeared.

On Thanksgiving day at 4:30 a.m., the 34-year-old mother of two was found on the side of the road, bound with restraints and viciously beaten. A passing motorist who discovered Papini contacted law enforcement, and Papini was treated at a hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.

“Right now she has been through a very traumatic event and needs time with her family,” Papini’s sister Sheila Koester told The Sacramento Bee, adding that it was “most amazing Thanksgiving that our family could ever ask for.”

“We’re all very, very, very excited, very, very relieved and just very thankful for getting our Sherri back.”

Papini informed authorities that two women in an SUV were behind the abduction. The suspects are still at large and believed to be armed and dangerous.
