After playing on her phone inside her bedroom, an Ardmore, Okla., 11-year-old girl got a quite a scare when she made an terrifying discovery inside her closet.

Presely Brown told KFOR that she saw a random man appear from behind her clothes.

“I started screaming bloody murder, and he said ‘Don’t be scared, little girl’ and I just started running,” she told the station.

Presely’s mother, Monica Brown, told KFOR that she heard her scream and came running to find the girl crying in the hallway. Brown said her husband got in a fight with the suspect, who was roaming the house.

A frightened Presley then said she ran to a neighbor’s house and called 911.

The suspect managed to escape from the house, but police later found him and identified him as 26-year-old Race Cox.

Not only did he scare the girl, Presley said he also took off with $100 of her birthday money.

“He could have put his hand over her mouth,” Monica Brown said. “Who knows, who knows what could have happened, but now it just makes us a lot more aware.”

The Browns’ home is currently under construction. A worker reportedly told the family someone came running through their home at some point during the day, but claimed the crew never discovered anyone inside.

Cox is being held on $40,000 bond at Carter County Jail on at least one felony charge, KFOR reported.
