A Florida couple was found dead on a highway on New Year’s Eve, and it only gets worse from there

A couple was found dead alongside a Florida highway on New Year’s Eve with their three sons still alive in parked vehicle.

A Florida Highway Patrol Officer reportedly found the bodies of Daniel Kelsey, 32, and Heather Kelsey, 31, alongside their maroon SUV which was parked near Interstate 4 in Deland City.

According to the New York Daily News, autopsies will be conducted to determine an official cause of death, and officials claim there were no signs of foul play.

Officials say that the couple’s three children — ages 8 months to 4 years — were found inside the vehicle. Department of Children and Families also reported to the scene after a trooper spotted the vehicle’s hazard lights on around 2 a.m.

“I loved Dan like a brother […] every time you saw him, you saw his kids,” family friend Jerell Jackson told The News-Journal.

The investigation is reportedly still ongoing at this time.
