A Spanish teacher at South Lakes High School in Fairfax County sidetracked a store clerk so a student could steal from an Exxon convenience store in Reston, Va., on Monday night.
Fabiana Ciammaichella, 30, blocked a clerk’s view while Adelmo Ernesto Arias, 18, stole a six-pack of beer around 11 p.m., WJLA reported. According to the station, Ciammaichella tried to buy one beer, left the store and then got Arias in her car, after he allegedly put the beer underneath his shirt and left, police say.
Police found Ciammaichella at her home after Exxon called police and gave them her licence plate number. Police not only found Ciammaichella at her home, but also Arias, the six-pack and illegal drugs.
Ciammaichella faces one possession of marijuana charges and two possession of controlled substance charges, while Arias faces one larceny and one marijuana charge.
A Fairfax County Public Schools spokesperson said Ciammaichella has been suspended from her position and will not be paid, the station reported.
