Jacob Sullivan, 44, who allegedly confessed to the rape, murder and dismemberment of his girlfriend’s 14-year-old adoptive daughter, Grace Parker, will face the death penalty if convicted. The trial for both Sullivan and Sara Parker, Grace Parker’s adoptive mother, began on March 26.

“We’re on a course here, a collision course, and we’re going to get justice for Grace, no matter how long it takes,” District Attorney Matt Weintraub said.

Prosecutors claim Sullivan admitted to raping Grace Parker as Sara Parker watched, suffocating her in a hot attic and leaving her to die. They believe Parker reported the girl missing, and the couple hid her body underneath cat litter in the attic for months. Eventually, a detective came to the house to ask questions, which led Sullivan and Parker to allegedly dismember the body and scatter it along a rural road where it was discovered by hunters in October.

Prosecutors say Sullivan confessed to hospital staff at a clinic where he and Parker received treatment after both attempting to commit suicide in December and later to police. They argued that he should receive the death penalty due to several aggravating factors, including torture and multiple felonies having been committed at the same time.
“We’re pretty confident that we will be vindicated and justified, and we’ll get justice for Grace,” Weintraub said.
