Actor and comedian D.L. Hughley thinks the American Health Care Act failed to secure enough votes because Americans realized that Obamacare covers more than just poor African-Americans. TMZ caught up with the star at LAX, where he expressed his thoughts, alleging that Trump supporters were fine with taking health coverage away from African-Americans until they realized it might affect them, too.

“I think that they were successful in making people believe that it was all about poor black people, but it wasn’t,” he said. “When they saw the faces of people who were truly affected by Obamacare, I think we learned this: that people hated the Obama part. The care part they were all right with.”

Hughley also had a message for people who seemed to be voting against their best interests by electing President Trump.

“If you voted for President Trump and you have a preexisting condition like type 2 diabetes, that means you hated the black people more than you love your feet,” he said.
