NBC has reportedly scrapped plans to air a controversial episode of “Law and Order: Special Victims Unit” that was scheduled to broadcast less than two weeks before the presidential election.
The episode features actor Gary Cole as a Donald Trump-esque character whose past indiscretions catch up with him while he runs for office.
On Thursday, NBC had released their first promo for the show, which immediately garnered intense criticism from those in Trump-land.
In a statement to CNN, NBC didn’t delve too deep into the postponement other than to confirm that it would air at a later time.
“The episode originally scheduled for October 26 has been postponed. It has not yet been assigned a new airdate,” a spokesperson said.
In the episode’s promo, Cole’s character can be heard saying things akin to Trump’s recent comments about women.
“I’m a handsome, charming millionaire. Women throw themselves at me,” Cole’s character says.
Last week, an audio recording was leaked that revealed Donald Trump saying that one can do anything when they’re famous, even grab women “by the pussy.”
