Fox News is confirming that the Trump administration is now accepting proposals from contractors to construct the promised wall along the United States’ southern border.

Designs are due next week, with companies expected to submit one design of reinforced concrete that can withstand “an hour-long assault,” and one design that can withstand 30 minutes of attempted deconstruction that Customs and Border Protection agents can also see through.

Both designs must be “aesthetically pleasing” on the side that faces the United States. Fox News reports that Donald Trump is expected to ask for $3 billion to begin the project. While Fox projects the wall could cost $10 billion, Trump estimated that his wall would cost $12 billion, Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell estimated $15 billion, and Reuters calculates that it might cost up to $21.6 billion.

A good estimate won’t become available until a final design is selected. Contracts, the report says, will be awarded at the end of May. There is no indication Mexico will pay for the wall.
