Lewis said he plans to skip Trump’s inauguration, his first in three decades.

After some public fighting with the president-elect, who called Lewis an “all talk” politician, it was revealed that Lewis also sat out former President George W. Bush’s first inauguration in 2001.

Trump seemed amused at that Lewis created a lie for himself.

“He conveniently doesn’t remember. How do you forget if you go to an inauguration? … You don’t forget something like that. He got caught and it’s pretty bad. And it’s making him look bad, frankly,” Trump said.

“It’s a very important transition,” he added about the transfer of power between presidents. “We have to have a smooth transition, and President Obama understands that very well.”
