On Thursday morning, President Donald Trump identified the House Freedom Caucus by name as people who could “hurt the entire Republican agenda.”

The Freedom Caucus was integral in blocking the Trump-approved health care bill that recently failed to reach a vote in the House of Representatives.

“The Freedom Caucus will hurt the entire Republican agenda if they don’t get on the team, & fast. We must fight them, & Dems, in 2018!” Trump wrote.
There are more than 30 members in the House Freedom Caucus, which was established in 2015 by Chairman Jim Jordan.
Many of the members of the Freedom Caucus have been vocal in their dislike of many of President Trump’s policies and stances. Congressman Justin Amash (R-MI) has been particularly vocal in his disdain for some of Trump’s positions. In late 2016, he explained why to the Huffington Post.
“I ran on a set of principles, and it doesn’t really matter which party is in charge or who the president is; I’m going to stick by my principles,” Amash said.
Shortly after Trump’s tweet, Amash responded to the president.
“It didn’t take long for the swamp to drain @realDonaldTrump. No shame, Mr. President. Almost everyone succumbs to the D.C. Establishment” Amash wrote on Twitter.
