During the 2016 election, then Republican nominee Donald Trump called his opponent a “nasty woman” and even encouraged his supporters to chant “lock her up” at his rallies.  Today, instead of railing against his former opponent, President Trump took the time to recognize Hillary Clinton during his address at the Congressional Luncheon.

The pair came face to face upon entering the luncheon and shook hands. Once the meal concluded, Trump began to address those in attendance, eventually acknowledging former President Clinton and Secretary Clinton.

“I was very honored — very, very honored — when I heard President Bill Clinton and Secretary Hillary Clinton was coming today,” he said applause filled the room. “And I think it’s appropriate to say that I’d like you to stand.”

Suddenly, Mrs. Clinton was given a standing ovation while she nodded and thanked those around her. The president himself even joined in on the clapping.

“Honestly, there is nothing more I can say because I have a lot of respect for those two people, so thank you all for being here,” he said once the applause died down.
