BRUSSELS – Belgian media identified two suicide bombers involved in Tuesday’s terrorist attacks in Brussels as police reportedly arrested a third suspect.
According to Belgian state broadcaster RTBF, police said Khalid and Brahim El Bakraoui blew themselves up in the deadly attacks. Belgian media outlets report that a third man, suspected bomb-maker Najim Laachraoui, is in police custody.
Two explosions ripped through the Brussels Airport early Tuesday, and a blast also rocked the Maalbeek Metro station near the European Union headquarters. At least 34 people were killed.
The attacks came just days after the main suspect in the Paris attacks, Salah Abdeslam, was arrested in Brussels.
The city has raised its terror alert to the highest level, and other major cities and airports in Europe and the U.S. are also increasing security in wake of the attacks.
The Associated Press reports that the Islamic State group has claimed responsibility for the attacks in Brussels.
