On Saturday morning, many Americans woke up to discover that Fidel Castro, the Cuban revolutionary and dictator, had died. For generations of Americans, Castro was the epitome of evil and represented many things that they were proud the United States was not.

One of those Americans is newly elected President-elect of the United States, Donald Trump.

Early Saturday, Trump tweeted out a simple message to his followers.

“Fidel Castro is dead!” Trump wrote.

Many Twitter users immediately brought up Castro’s history with the Russian government and Trump’s alleged Russian ties.

“Have you sent your condolences to yet? ,” one user wrote.

Others joked about the brevity of his tweet and that it didn’t seem “presidential.”

“Lol man good presidential tweet there,” another user wrote sarcastically.
