Two children witnessed a nightmare unfold in front their eyes when their mother was stabbed to death, apparently by their father, in a suspected murder-suicide. The horrendous event occurred at their home in eastern England.

A police spokesperson said the police were called to the home following reports of “a disturbance within a property.”
The children, a boy and a girl thought to be ages 5 and 7, were not physically harmed, according to The Sun.

The terrified 27-year-old woman ran to the balcony and screamed for neighbors to call the police, but died before help arrived. Paramedics were seen carrying the man, who stabbed himself, outside after an air ambulance landed.
“They spent about 10 minutes trying to revive him. Eventually they put a sheet over him and I knew he was dead,” a witness told The Sun. “The woman had come outside wearing just her nightie. There was a lot of screaming coming from inside. I phoned 999. They told me they were already on their way.”
Police confirmed the man died at the scene.
“I feel sorry for the kids,” a local bar manager told Hertfordshire Mercury. “I heard there were two children in there as well. One was about six, same age as my child.”

A neighbor told police it was not unusual to hear disturbances coming from the home, saying “there was always screaming and shouting in there.”
Someone who lives nearby captured a few shots of the crime scene and posted them on social media.
