On Wednesday’s episode of Fox News’ “The O’Reilly Factor,” host Bill O’Reilly argued that “out of control” college professors are doing damage to their students by pushing their political views upon them.

“If you know your history, every single totalitarian regime controlled the schools,” he said, citing 1930s Germany, the Soviet Union, and Mao’s China as examples. “Now we have the totalitarian left in America, and if you don’t see it their way, you’re attacked and demonized.”

He went on to say that teachers who don’t align with liberal ideology are punished by getting fired. What’s more: students could suffer consequences for not falling in line as well.

“And if you’re a student, you can be punished through the grading system,” O’Reilly said. “This cannot continue. So it is up to each individual state to monitor what happens in their [public] colleges and schools.”

He then argued that it’s up to governors to hold college administrators for “crazy stuff” going on in their state’s schools.

“Academic freedom is one thing, but harming students with insane ideology is something else,” he concluded.
