Here’s why a cop pulled a gun on teens who were having a snowball fight

A police officer from New Rochelle, New York was filmed recently responding to what was supposedly a snowball fight by pointing his gun at teens and saying “Don’t f*cking move, guys.”

The video is now circulating widely on the Internet and is being viewed by many as another incident of police abuse.

The woman filming can be heard saying “They were having a snowball fight. This group of guys was having a snowball fight and now a cop has a gun on them.”

New Rochelle Deputy Police Commissioner Anthony Murphy is saying, however, that it’s not what it looks like. Murphy says the officer was responding to a 911 call during which someone told the police that a teen was pointing a gun at someone else.

“The video looks terrible, but it’s completely out of context,” he told the New York Daily News. “It’s a completely different incident than it appears from that snippet. There’s clearly a lot of misunderstanding. The record of the 911 call will by itself illustrate what was going on.”
