The viral video of a police officer who pulled out his gun on teens at a pool party has spread across the far reaches of the internet and now some area residents are speaking out.

After a crowded pool party resulted in teenagers climbing over the fence of a neighborhood pool, police were called to the scene which resulted in what the video showed as an officer pulling unarmed teenagers to the ground and brandishing his firearm.

According to later coverage by CNN, residents have spoken out in favor of the police officer in question, including suggestions of offering him a medal.

“I want everyone to know that the police officer was completely in the right along with everyone else,” the McKinney resident told CNN. “They were completely in the right and protecting everyone. He was not out of line. I completely support him drawing his weapon or a taser or whatever he did pull because it showed him being attacked from behind.”

However the video does not support the resident’s claim of the officer being attacked. Brandon Brooks, the teenager who recorded the video on his phone, told NBC about the incident.

“When I started the video was right after all the kids who got put on the ground had gotten up and ran away. The cop was chasing after all those kids just putting every black person he saw on the ground.”

The officer in question has been put on administrative leave.
